Roy was a painter, but you can see that when he first got married It seems that he had other ideas to be more than a painter by trying to homestead in Canada. Life in Canada at that time was very difficult and cold.

Chippewa Herald-Telegram 6/13/1934 - Roy Holliston, 51, highly esteemed resident of Milwaukee, WI and formerly of Chippewa Falls, passed away at his home Monday, June 11, after an illness of three months, death being due to cancer. Mr. Holliston was born in Granite Falls, MN April 28, 1883. He was united in marriage to Anna King of Chippewa Falls. Surviving relatives are his wife, three daughters, a sister, and two brothers, beside many other relative and friends who mourn his loss. His body was brought here for burial. Funeral services will be held at the Mason Funeral Home at 2:30 Thursday afternoon, Rev. George Fisher of Bloomer officiating. Interment will be made in the Eagleton Cemetery.
