JOHN McKAY, elder son of James McKay, Edinburgh, and grandson of the late James Houliston, Glensherrig, Brodick, enlisted in April 1915 and went to Bisley. After six month's training he was sent to France and did some dispatch work at the battle of Loos. Transferred subsequently to Egypt, he was in action in the desert and was afterwards engaged in fighting with the Arabs against the Turks in the Red Sea Littoral.
In civil life he was a foreman in a large seed warehouse in Leith.
